Taking care of ourselves is not optional, it’s essential when working with people who’ve experienced trauma. Soul care is for all people not just those who feel weak or are spiritual. Understanding our barriers to care for ourselves, and the effects of secondary trauma can increase our compassion for ourselves, our self-awareness of how we are being impacted, and propel us into more sustainable practices. Developing rhythms of rest and renewal can nurture and guide us.
This Soul Care group is for DV/SA advocates & professionals (former or present) who want to create space to tune-in to their inner self, reckon more deeply with how their work is impacting them, and practice deep listening to themselves and others. You will be led in somatic grounding practices, free-writing exercises, and contemplative reflection. It is primarily an invitation to do some of your own inner work, and share intentionally with others.
This group will not incorporate a particular faith tradition, focused on DV/SA advocates. See Monthly Tuesday group for one that is open to all helping professionals (former or present), and more concretely integrates Christian spirituality.
It will not be a time to process childhood trauma or as a replacement for therapy.
