Contemplative Silent Meditation

Contemplation Sits are an act of resistance to the drivenness of our culture and the lie that our value is in our productivity.

The practice invites letting go of thoughts and sensations, and returning to a guiding sacred word. Even this simple yet challenging act can help train our bodies and brains to let go more easily throughout other moments in our days, to be present to ourselves and those around us.

It invites us to root ourselves in the Ground of all Being and extend self-compassion when we get distracted or overwhelmed.

STRUCTURE

  • Begin with a reading, song, and/or body prayer.

  • Enter into the practice of Contemplative Silent Meditation (Centering Prayer or any other type of silent meditation of your choice for 20 minutes to ground yourself.)

  • Time of optional sharing in breakout rooms: relates to your spiritual life and contemplative practice.

  • Close together.

All are welcome as it works for your life, walking, sitting, or doing dishes, though I would recommend sitting in stillness and quiet.
